Interesting Fact

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was only formed in 2016 having previously been two separate Fire Services. It is now one of the largest fire and rescue services in England and has a total of 50 fire stations serving 1.5 million people.

Responsibilities

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is responsible for ensuring that the communities of Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, Dorset, Swindon and Wiltshire are protected and supported by an effective and efficient fire and rescue service. 

Key Roles in Response

It deals with incidents such as domestic fires, commercial fires, road traffic collisions, field fires, wildfires, flooding's and hazardous materials. To do this, it has a variety of appliances ranging from a high-volume pump, off road fire engines for heath and wildfires to a 32 metre aerial ladder platforms for larger commercial incidents. It also sometimes uses drones, boats and has a rope and water rescue capability.
