Consultation seeking views on the future of National Lottery funding for good causes
The government has launched a twelve-week Call for Evidence, National Lottery Good Causes: Fund What Matters To You, to help shape how lottery funding is distributed to communities across the UK.
This review is an opportunity for local government, sector bodies, and the public to ensure that lottery funding aligns with modern priorities and effectively supports what matters most to people. It covers the following areas:
- how effectively current lottery funding reaches disadvantaged or underrepresented communities
- whether the current balance of funding across arts, heritage, sport, and community projects meets local needs
- how the application process can be simplified for grassroots organisations and local groups
- ways to foster better collaboration between lottery distributors and local government to deliver long-term strategic benefits
Consultation closes on 23 September 2026.
