Interesting Fact

Started by 4 men in a pub looking to help local Category 1 responders and the Council. They have approximately 300 active members and cover Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset and Bristol. They have supported community health workers, transported vital supplies and medication as well as assisting Lowland Search and Rescue members.

Responsibilities

They provide resilient logistical support for Category 1 responders and local agencies during adverse weather conditions or other incidents. The object of the team is to preserve and protect human life, in particular but not exclusively, by supplementing and supporting emergency services. All active members are DBS cleared.

Key Roles in Response

To provide suitable self-owned 4x4 vehicles and competent volunteer drivers for logistical support. They are able to provide on-site facilities to support health and safety of drivers and passengers.
