Communities encouraged to take advantage of Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme

Residents and businesses across Wiltshire are being encouraged to come together and take advantage of the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, a government-funded initiative helping communities secure access to faster, more reliable Full Fibre broadband.

Delivered by Building Digital UK (BDUK), the scheme offers financial support in the form of vouchers to help eligible properties install Full Fibre (FTTP – Fibre to the Premises). This next-generation connectivity improves speed, resilience, and capacity for homes and businesses, future-proofing communities for years to come.

Full Fibre broadband provides:

  • Significantly faster speeds for streaming, home working and smart devices
  • More reliable connections, ideal for busy households
  • Enhanced upload speeds for cloud services and video calls
  • A digital boost for local businesses, supporting growth, innovation and modern working practices

Cllr Helen Belcher, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Regeneration and Assets, said: “Ensuring our communities have access to fast, reliable digital connectivity is essential for everyday life, from supporting local businesses to helping families stay connected. The Gigabit Voucher Schemes gives residents and businesses a real opportunity to secure future-proof Full Fibre broadband at a reduced cost. I encourage everyone who is eligible to get involved, speak with neighbours, and explore how joining together can bring these upgrades to your area. The scheme works best when three or more properties join together.”

The Gigabit Voucher Scheme is currently open until August 2026, but there is no guarantee it will be extended. Communities are encouraged to start the process as early as possible to ensure they benefit from available funding.

Residents can see whether gigabit-capable broadband is available or planned to become available at their address through the new Gigabit Broadband Availability Checker: Check your gigabit broadband availability - GOV.UK
