Interesting Fact

Every county in the UK is covered by one or more Mountain Rescue or Lowland Rescue teams. Unsurprisingly, Wiltshire is designated a Lowland area! However, both Mountain Rescue & Lowland Rescue teams will come to Wiltshire to assist with big incidents.

Responsibilities

Search and Rescue teams primarily exist to locate missing and vulnerable people and get them to a place of safety. They are generally only deployed by a 999-control room, to high-risk incidents where there is a potential threat to life.

  • Assisting Ambulance Service with extrication in remote locations
  • Flood Rescue
  • 4x4 support in severe weather
  • Major incident response
